The Building Code of Australia requires fire protection equipment to be serviced and tested on a regular basis. Scantix Fire’s trained technicians can take care of any requirement you have in these areas. Check the exact requirement for each type of equipment from the list below:
Access panels, doors and hoppers to fire resisting shaft Access panels, door and hoppers are inspected and tested in accordance with Building Code of Australia (BCA) clause C3.13 on an annual basis
Automatic fail safe devices (fail safe locks) Automatic fail safe devices are inspected and tested in accordance with Building Code of Australia (BCA), part D2 on an annual basis
Automatic fire detection and alarm system Automatic fire detection and alarm systems (panels) are inspected and tested in accordance with AS1670 on a monthly basis. Additionally, a log book is required to be placed at the location of the fire indicator panel in order for the technician to record the results of each inspection, in accordance with AS1851.8.
Automatic fire suppression (sprinkler) Automatic sprinkler systems are inspected and tested in accordance with AS2118 on a weekly basis. Additionally, a log book is required to be placed at the location of the sprinkler in order for the technician to record the results of each inspection, in accordance with AS1851.3
Emergency Warning and Intercommunication system Emergency Warning and Intercommunication Systems (EWIS) are tested on a monthly basis in accordance with AS2220.1 & 2. At time of testing it is sometimes necessary to replace globes and starters.
Exit and Emergency lighting Exit and Emergency lights are inspected and tested in accordance with AS2293.3 and AS2293.2 on a six monthly basis
Fire dampers Fire dampers are inspected and tested in accordance with AS1668 on an annual basis
Fire doors Fire doors are inspected annually and tested in accordance with AS1851.7 and AS1905.1
Paths of travel, stairways, passageways or ramps Paths of travel for stairways, passageways and ramps are done in accordance to BCA D 2.23
Warning and operational signs (stairway notices) Warning and operational signs are inspected in accordance with BCA D 2.23 on an annual basis and at the same time that fire doors are inspected and tested.
Fire hydrant system Fire hydrants are inspected and tested in accordance with AS2419.1 on an annual basis Fire hydrant booster pumps are inspected and tested on a weekly basis in accordance with AS2419.1 Additionally, in the case of a hydrant booster pump being present, a log book is required in order for the technician to record the results of each weekly inspection, in accordance with maintenance code AS1851.4. Every year a flow test is required and a pressure test required every six years in accordance with AS2419.
Fire seals protecting openings in fire resisting components of the building Fire seals protecting openings are inspected and tested in accordance with Building Code of Australia (BCA) C1.1 & C3 on an annual basis
Hose reel system Fire hose reel systems are inspected and tested in accordance with AS1851.2 on a six monthly basis. Mechanical air handling system Mechanical air handling systems are inspected and tested in accordance with AS1668 on an annual basis.
Portable fire extinguishers Portable fire extinguishers are inspected and tested in accordance with AS1851.1 on a six monthly basis. Additionally, five yearly pressure testing is required, plus recharging when an extinguisher is discharged. Pressurizing systems (smoke spill & supply air fans) are inspected and tested in accordance with AS1668
Smoke and heat detectors Back to Panel Smoke and heat detectors are inspected and tested in accordance with AS1670 on an annual basis. 240 Volt Smoke and heat detectors are inspected and tested in accordance with AS3786 on an annual basis
Wall wetting sprinkler and drencher systems Wall wetting and drencher systems are inspected and tested in accordance with AS2118.2 on an annual basis
